Fourth of July Treats

Happy Fourth of July! With a fun day full of parades, food and fun, we wanted to take the time to share our favorite recipes with you!

The Fourth of July marks the start of American Independence. While it is unclear if we will have the typical fireworks celebrations that mark the end of the day, we know that there are plenty of other ways to celebrate during this time. Here are some of our favorite Fourth of July treats that your little chefs can make!

Cake Pops

A small treat that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults is a cake pop in our books. This recipe we found by The Spruce Eats takes making cake pops to another level. If you are on a time crunch and looking for something a little simpler, you could keep the inside to one color and just coat each cake pop with a different color: red, white and blue! These treats will be yummy from the inside out no matter how you make them.

Fourth of July Fruit Platter

Fruit doesn’t just have to be cut up and thrown into a bowl this Fourth of July! It can be a fun, creative art challenge for your kids. While this recipe uses angel food cake to fill in the white on the flag, there are plenty of our alternatives to use as well. Some fruit substitutes include bananas or pineapple!

Check out this recipe for how to put the flag together!

Red White & Blue Chex Mix

This next recipe is similar to trail mix but with a bit more flare and fun! This recipe is easy to put together and your kids will have a blast combing all the ingredients. It’ll be tempting not to eat this fun mix straight from the mixing bowl, but we know your whole family will love it. It can be a fun activity for the whole family to go to the store together and look for red white and blue additions to your mix!

Patriotic Popsicles

As the summer continues to heat up, a cold treat can be perfect if the whole family is getting together outdoors. When trying to create the red white and blue colors, there are a few different options. You can use food dyes to get that rich blue and red color or follow the recipe listed below from Wicked Spatula, that utilizes the blue from blueberries! We love this recipe because they list out alternatives to the fruits, so we highly recommend giving this recipe a read.
