Potatoes are a great source of carbohydrates and are seen as a starchy vegetable. They help break down glucose and supply our body with energy. Potatoes are also rich in multiple other nutrients!
These include but are not limited to
Vitamin C
Potassium
Antioxidants - Flavonoids, carotenoids and phenolic acid
Fiber
Potassium
Magnesium
Remember different types of potatoes have different nutrients present
There are over 200 varieties of potatoes sold in the United States and about 4,000 varieties of native potatoes worldwide! Potatoes come in all shapes, sizes and even colors. Some of these include russet potatoes, sweet potatoes, fingerling potatoes, purple potatoes and many more!
You can cook potatoes in many different ways. Some methods include baking them in the oven, grilling them, roasting, mashed potatoes, using them in a salad and so much more! We can’t wait to see the fun and creative ways our little chefs utilize to cook their potatoes.
