About the event

Our little chefs will learn to make two delicious and healthy dishes:

  • Brown Sugar Roasted Carrots
  • Buggies on a Log

What we are learning? The nutritional value of vegetables, the importance of snacks, slicing fruits thinly and safely, measuring sticky and thick ingredient, how to follow a recipe yet still make it your own

Important: This will be a small group live cooking class held via Zoom. Once you register you will receive a link to the meeting. No special equipment is required, you can use your phone or computer to participate in the class. This recipe requires use of knife, so please be sure to have safe child friendly knife available (we recommend plastic lettuce knife) and be sure that an adult is present during the class to handle supervise use of the knife. 

Class shopping list:

  • ½ lb. (8 oz) baby carrots
  • 1.5 tbsp. butter
  • 1 clove garlic 
  • 1.5 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • Filling Option 1: 1 tbsp of honey or sweetener of choice + 3 tbsp of cream cheese 
  • Filling Option 2: 3 tablespoons sun butter or nut butter
  • Toppings: Any or all of the below: 1 apple, 1 orange, 1/4 cup raisins, 3-4 pretzel sticks or similar toppings of your choice

Supplies: Oven preheated to 425F (only adults should be using oven!) greased foil lined baking tray, small size bowl, knife for slicing fruit (please make sure you supervise your child when he or she is using knife), spreading knife, set of measuring spoons and cups
